Public beach park adjacent to Xinghai Square. One of Dalian's most popular swimming beaches in summer (July–August). Free public access.

The iconic rocky coastline section of Tiger Beach adjacent to the Ocean Park, accessible separately from the theme park. The dramatic basalt formations and Yellow Sea views are the defining image of Dalian.

The Japanese-built railway station (1937) and its sweeping plaza are an architectural centrepiece of central Dalian. The fan-shaped plaza design is unique among Chinese railway stations.

The main wholesale and retail seafood market in central Dalian. Sea urchin, sea cucumber, abalone, and live shellfish. The surrounding restaurants will cook purchased seafood for a small fee.

Coastal scenic area east of Tiger Beach with a state guesthouse and a private beach. The rocky headland and offshore rock formation (Bangchuidao islet) are scenic viewpoints. Some sections may be restricted; verify access before promotion.

Large indoor aquarium near Xinghai Square with beluga whales, polar bears, and a walk-through underwater tunnel. An alternative or complement to Tiger Beach Ocean Park.

Soviet-style city hall and public square from the 1950s, a contrast to the Russian and Japanese colonial-era buildings elsewhere. The square hosts public events and is a meeting point for locals.

Dalian operates one of the last historic tram networks in China. Routes 201 and 202 run through the city on original Japanese-era tracks. Riding the tram is itself an attraction — it passes through the Zhongshan Square area and along the waterfront.

A quieter public beach east of Tiger Beach, sheltered in a cove. Less crowded than Xinghai Beach and has cleaner water according to local reputation. Swimming season June–September.

Striking contemporary building by Coop Himmelblau on the Dalian waterfront, resembling a cresting wave. A landmark of 21st-century Dalian and visible from the harbour. The surrounding Xiwang Square waterfront is a pleasant evening walk.
